Culinary Excellence Unleashed: Humber College's Comprehensive Culinary Management Program

Program Highlights: 

The Culinary Management program at Humber College stands out with its blend of practical skills and theoretical knowledge. The curriculum covers everything from basic culinary skills to the intricacies of Canadian cuisine trends. Its not just about learning in the kitchen; the program also focuses on designing, organizing, implementing, serving, and executing dining events. 

Each semester is crafted to build upon the last. The first semester lays the foundation with basic culinary skills, baking, pastry arts, food safety, and hospitality math. In the second semester, students delve into advanced culinary knowledge, butchery, nutrition, and large-quantity cooking. The third semester advances these skills further with a focus on baking, pastry arts, menu planning, and restaurant operations. The final semester features the Chefs Table course, emerging trends in Canadian cuisine, and valuable field experience. 

One of the highlights of this program is the study abroad opportunities. In the fourth semester, students have the chance to study in Italy at the APICIUS International School of Hospitality. Additionally, there are short-duration experiential trips to the Mediterranean/Italy and Peru, along with semester abroad learning opportunities. 

What You’ll Leave With: 

Graduates of this program leave with a comprehensive set of skills in advanced culinary planning, food preparation, business principles, nutritional principles, kitchen management, and technology application in food production. The career prospects for graduates are vast, ranging from opportunities in hotels, restaurants, golf clubs, resorts, hospitals, and corporate settings. Entrepreneurially inclined students are also inspired to start their own businesses. 

The program is recognized by the World Association of Chefs’ Societies (WACS), and students have the opportunity to earn the prestigious WACS Commis de Cuisine certification.
