The most recent Retail Report from RangeMe revealed the most searched food categories and products online from 2022 Q2. The survey of more than 15,000 retail buyers and 200,000 suppliers revealed:
Mushrooms were among the top online food searches.
Healthy food alternatives, including salad dressings, pickles, okra and dried chickpeas, increased last year.
Cat food, especially wet food, was also a top search, reflecting higher pet ownership and pet food shortages during the pandemic.
CBD-related products have seen an increase in searches.
Consumers are increasingly searching for diverse, minority and LGBTQ-certified businesses, as well as sustainable businesses, all of which RangeMe says are still going strong in 2023 Q1.
More than 90% of Gen X consumers say they would be willing to pay more for sustainable products, up from 42% in 2019.
