Something to Celebrate
February 6, 2023 is Oatmeal Monday! Also known as Meal Monday, the day is celebrated on the second Monday in February, and commemorates a Scottish tradition dating back to the 17th century when food could be scarce. In those days, universities held a monthly Oatmeal Monday, when students had the chance to prepare a meal together and share supplies. The University of Edinburgh made Oatmeal Monday an annual celebration in 1896 to allow students to express gratitude for the availability of and access to food.
