Did you Know? 

The recently released Change of Taste survey from meal kit company Goodfood shows that Canadians are dealing with food inflation and supply chain issues by opting to eat at home more frequently than before the pandemic. The survey found: 

 

  • Only 6% of consumers say they’d rather go out to eat or get takeout on a typical night; 78% say they’d prefer to stay in. 
  • 46% of consumers say they eat breakfast and 30% eat lunch at home more often now, compared to 41% and 27% pre-pandemic. 
  • More than 33% of consumers say higher food costs will impact their holiday menu, and 50% of consumers say they worry that their holiday menu will be impacted by ingredient shortages. 
  • 91% of consumers say they’re prepared to pay more for local products; 66% say they’d spend more for food with a lower carbon footprint; and 78% say they’d spend more on food that is sustainably sourced. 
  • 86% of consumers say they’d be willing to pay more for food that’s good for them.
