Did you know?
Fraud is rampant in the fish and seafood industry, with incidents occurring worldwide. Food & Allergy Consulting & Testing Services (FACTS) estimates that one in five seafood samples in mislabelled. One reason is a lack of proper traceability measures and/or documentation, making it easier to intentionally mislabel species.
Fish and seafood aren’t the only products affected by fraud. As this infographic from FACTS shows, food fraud is a challenge in many categories across different countries.
